The Lavochkin La-200 was a prototype, all-metal, low-wing Soviet interceptor. The propulsion - in the La-200B version - was provided by two Klimov VK-1 jet engines . A prototype flight took place in 1949, but the machine never entered mass production. The armament was three 37mm NS-37 cannons.
The La-200 was created in response to the demand reported by the command of the Soviet military aviation for a new jet fighter capable of operating at night and in difficult weather conditions and equipped with a radar. In the course of development works carried out in Lavochkin's office, a modern aircraft with rich avionics was created, as well as various variants of radars called Toriy, Korshun and Sokó³ were tested. The latter radar was mounted on the La-200B aircraft, in which the front of the fuselage was also redesigned. However, despite several years of testing (1949-1953), the Lavochkin La-200 still did not meet the requirements of the Soviet Air Force, especially in terms of maximum speed and maneuverability, which led to the project being discontinued in 1953.
