The Curtiss H-16 is an American twin engine biplane seaplane which was the culmination of the development of the famous Curtiss series of flying boats with the "H" designation. The Curtiss H-16 was intended primarily for ZOP (anti-submarine combat) operations in the Atlantic, but also performed the functions of reconnaissance and maritime observation. The flight of the prototype took place in 1917, and the first serial copies were put into service in 1918, stationed mainly in France. It was powered by two Liberty engines. 334 H-16s were built by the end of World War I.
