The Bristol Racer (another designation: Bristol Type 72) was a British sports and racing aircraft from the interwar period. The flight of the only constructed specimen took place in 1922. The length of the aircraft was 6.58 meters, with a wingspan of 7.67 meters. The drive was provided by a single Bristol Jupiter IV engine with 480 HP. The maximum speed of the aircraft reached 353 km / h. The Bristol Racer aircraft was developed by Roy Fedden to demonstrate the capabilities of the then new Bristol Jupiter aircraft engine. After a few months of work, a machine was created in the dorsal wing configuration, with a bulky fuselage, retractable landing gear in flight and good aerodynamic properties. The plane was also de facto designed to take part in air races and in fact it took part in several such events. However, in their course it turned out that the machine is unstable in flight and also exhibits other technical problems. Finally, the only one built was dismantled in 1924.
